Thursday July 24th – Franny’s Farm and Asheville Yoga Festival have joined forces to bring you this one of a kind yoga experience! It’s fun to get Zen to Bend with goats! Also expect a private, guided tour from Franny. She recently received a national award by Hemp History Week as a featured farmer. This is due to her public advocacy for the hemp plant and it’s various uses in food, fiber, building materials and medicine. Expect hemp-infused snacks and drinks to accompany your experience interacting with animals, the land, flower, bee and vegetable gardens. There will be free time to explore, hike the ridge to eco-cabins, forage blackberries and/or relax.

Arrival~ 8-8:30

8:30-9 Experience CBD/Hemp products from Franny’s Farmacy… Sample our topicals (massage oils, healing lotion, salves, pain stick) & “Toke with a Goat“. We will light and pass hemp joints for anyone interested before proceeding into the barn to get zen and bend with goats.

Yoga~ 9-10 Followed by pictures! Transition with Hemp-infused Appetizers/Snack/Drinks, adjust your clothing and shoes & hit the bathroom.

Farm Tour ~10:30-11:30 Transition with Hemp-infused Appetizers/Snack/Drinks, “Mocktails” will be served ( CBD-infused, non-alcoholic)

Directions: Ask google to “take me to Franny’s Farm” and you will arrive at the 2-story brown barn where parking is located. If you jive with old school directions, well it’s easy 3 turns from downtown Asheville. Proceed 10 miles out Leicester Hwy (pronounced “Les-ter” aka Hwy 63). Turn LEFT on South Turkey Creek and go 1 mile to turn RIGHT on Franny’s Farm Rd.

 These are a few of our Favorite snack recipes for Farm Camp! We use fresh ingredients grown by kids, for kids & we don’t mean the goats! From Pasta & Pies, to Hummus & Pizza, Franny’s farm campers learn the meaning of “Farm to Table”

 Banana Bread

 **Preheat oven to 350 degrees**

Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups Mashed Bananas
  • ​2 cups Flour
  • 3/4 cups Sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon Baking Soda

  • ​1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Plain Yogurt
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter Melted & Cooled
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

 

 1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. 

2. Mix mashed bananas, yogurt, eggs, butter and vanilla with a wooden spoon. 

 3. Lightly fold banana mixture into dry ingredients with a rubber spatula until just combined. 

4. Scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure all ingredients are mixed. 

5. Pour into bread pans and bake for 45-55 minutes.

 Blueberry Muffins

**Preheat oven to 425 degrees**

Ingredients

  • ​2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 1/8 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tablespoons of butter melted and cooled
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

 

1. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. 

2. In a separate bowl mix sugar and eggs until thick and homogeneous, about 45 seconds.

3. Slowly whisk in butter and oil until combined. Whisk in the buttermilk and vanilla.

4. Using rubber spatula fold in the egg mixture and blueberries into flour mixture. Do not over mix. 

5. Prepare baking pans with non stick spray and spoon batter into pans. Bake 15-17 minutes.

 Broccoli Tots

  **Preheat the oven to 400 Degrees**

Ingredients

  • ​2 cups or 12 ounces uncooked or frozen broccoli
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup diced yellow onion
  • 1/3 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs

 

  • ​1/3 cup italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

 

1. Grease a baking sheet with a thin layer of oil or line with parchment paper and set aside.

 

 

2. Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 1 minute then remove and shock with cold tap water to stop the cooking process. Drain well.

3. Chop broccoli finely and mix throughly with the egg, onions, cheddar, breadcrumbs, and seasoning. Scoop mixture on to plastic wrap and roll into a long tot shaped loaf.

4. Let mixture set in refrigerator for 2 hours or overnight.

5. Cut loaf into tot length. Unroll from plastic. Place on baking sheet.  Bake until golden brown and crispy, 18-24 minutes, turning half way.

Enjoy hot with ketchup, sriracha, ranch dressing, or your favorite dipping sauce!

Activities include:

Gathering eggs, labeling, incubating and hatching Heritage Barred Plymouth Rock chicks
Transplanting in the garden, sowing seeds & planting vegetables to take home
Building projects in the woods
Engaging with the new and older animals on the farm
From scratch cooking,Nature crafts & more!

Fury friends are always coming and going on the farm. Above is a picture of some of our newest goats waiting for all the cuddles.
